Ch. 14 - Marketing Channels and Retailing

Retailing is the function and activities involved in the selling of goods and services directly to consumers. A marketing channel focuses on a group structure of interdependent organizations that simplify the transfer and distribution of products to consumers. These channels basically represent the place elements in a marketing mix which composes of the product , place, promotion, and price. Unfortunately my company Engineering Services and Products Company is not involved in the retailing so instead I researched information on retailing for Nintendo considering they are a video game company which is something i enjoy alot.

Nintendo is an electronics company whose head quarters are located in Kyoto, Japan. They are the worlds largest video game company . Last Wednesday I went to the Nintendo World Store located in Rockefeller Center to do some research as to how retailing is involved in this company. We live in the age of electronics and since Nintendo is an electronic company they have many retailers. Nintendo has a variety of retailers such as Best Buy , Targets, Kmart, Amazon, Walmart ,Costco, Gamestop, f.y.e. , Toysrus, Nintendo World Store, Staples and Sears. These organizations help better distribute and promote electronic products to consumers in order to make a profit much more efficient.
When I was at the Nintendo Store recently I asked one of the employees how much business this store usually makes on a daily basis. I was informed that recently they have been making quite a profit lately due to the recent release of the companies latest product Pokemon X and Pokemon Y video game available for the Nintendo 3ds. The company even promoted the release of the video game by having a Launc event party for the video game prior to its release date.
